Mississippi State volleyball extends win streak with victory over Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, N.C. — Mississippi State volleyball improved to 5-1 overall with a 3-1 win over Wake Forest on Tuesday night during the annual ACC/SEC Challenge. The Bulldogs earned their third straight victory in the event, defeating the Demon Deacons 25-18, 25-14, 21-25, 25-18.

Head coach Julie Darty Dennis praised her team’s effort, saying, “I’m super proud of another gritty team win. We are making things happen on our side and executing well right now.” She noted the match featured long rallies and competitive play from both teams.

Mississippi State gained control early, taking the first set 25-18 after a 6-1 run to extend their lead. The Bulldogs carried momentum into the second set, hitting .412 with no errors to win 25-14. Wake Forest responded in the third set, winning 25-21, but Mississippi State closed out the match with a 25-18 victory in the fourth set, despite the Demon Deacons’ largest lead of four points.

Lindsey Mangelson led the Bulldogs with 16 kills and 14 digs, her third double-double in four games. Bernardita Aguilar contributed 12 kills and 15 digs for her third consecutive double-double. Noella Obi added seven kills at a .538 hitting percentage and five blocks, including two solos. Ava Anderson posted a season-high six kills, while McKenna Yates recorded 21 digs, her second 20-plus dig performance of the season.

Mississippi State will next travel to Tennessee for matches against Alcorn State on Friday at 3 p.m. and Memphis on Saturday at 3 p.m., which will be televised on ESPN+. Fans can follow updates on social media using the handle ‘HailStateVB.’
