Mississippi State Focuses on Self as No. 16 Bulldogs Prepare for No. 7 Alabama

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State’s football team remains focused on its goals as it prepares to host Alabama this Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium. The Bulldogs, ranked 16th nationally, are undefeated a third of the way through the season, according to school officials.

Head coach Jeff Lebby said the team’s focus is on self-improvement rather than outside expectations. “I think we’re concerned with being as good as we could possibly be on Saturday and just be us,” Lebby said. “If we’ll do that and take great care of the ball, we’ll be right where we need to be.”

Lebby emphasized that past results, including recent wins or losses, do not influence this week’s game. “It means absolutely zero to me or our guys,” he said. “This Saturday is the biggest game of the year because it’s the next game.”

The Bulldogs have demonstrated resilience this season, overcoming setbacks and maintaining their focus. They defeated Minnesota in the season opener, rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat South Carolina, and outscored Missouri in the fourth quarter last week to secure a comeback win.

Lebby expressed confidence that continuing to focus on their process will lead to further success. “There’s incredible vision and a great plan,” he said. “Where we’re going is special once we’re on the field.”

Tickets for the game are sold out through Mississippi State, but available via secondary marketplaces such as SeatGeek, the school’s official partner. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.
