Mississippi State Dominates Minnesota in Key Season Test

MINNEAPOLIS — Mississippi State delivered an impressive performance Saturday, defeating Minnesota 38-13 on the road. The Bulldogs controlled the game from start to finish, earning praise from Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck, who said Mississippi State ‘dictated the terms of the fight,’ according to sources.

State scored touchdowns on each of their first four drives and limited Minnesota to just two field goals in the first half, establishing a commanding lead. Head coach Jeff Lebby commended his team’s effort, particularly noting the performance of quarterback Kamario Taylor, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 86 yards.

Lebby also highlighted contributions from running back Fluff Bothwell, who ran for 113 yards and two scores, and wide receiver Anthony Evans III, who had 121 yards receiving and a touchdown. The offensive line paved the way for 479 total yards, including 252 rushing yards.

Defensively, Mississippi State’s unit did not allow a single touchdown. Minnesota’s only score came on a fumble recovery in the end zone. The defense limited the Gophers to 13 yards rushing and allowed just four successful third-down conversions out of 13 attempts, according to sources.

Lebby said the team is already looking ahead to next Saturday’s game against South Carolina, which opens SEC play. He emphasized the importance of celebrating the win but also preparing for upcoming challenges. “It’s just the beginning of it, but I’m proud of what we did in Minnesota,” Lebby said. “On Sunday, it’s back to work.”
