The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Thursday, Oct. 19, that Mississippi State’s Erynn Barnum was named to the Katrina McClain Award Watch List. Barnum is one of 20 honorees on the preseason watch list given annually to the nation’s best power forward.
Barnum is a graduate student in her first season at Mississippi State after transferring from Arkansas, where she was a top 10 finalist for the award last season.
Barnum had a breakout senior season last year, where she earned Second Team All-SEC honors. She set career-best marks in scoring (15.0), rebounding (6.5), assists (66), blocked shots (38) and steals (47). She scored in double figures 28 times with nine 20-point games, along with three 10+ rebound contests and two double-doubles. She scored a career-high 37 points against Ole Miss (1/29/23) off 13 field goals, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
