Ingomar Holds Off Biggersville Rally, Advances to State Semifinals with 55-48 Win
The Ingomar Lady Falcons punched their ticket back to Jackson on Wednesday night, defeating the Biggersville Lady Lions 55-48 at ICC in a postseason rematch of the 2023 state championship game.
Just as they did in that title matchup three years ago, Ingomar controlled the game early and built a cushion that proved too much to overcome.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
Ingomar opened with a strong first quarter, taking a 17-9 lead after one. The Lady Falcons extended their advantage before halftime, heading into the break with a commanding 33-18 lead. By the end of the third quarter, Ingomar had stretched the margin to 48-30, seemingly in firm control.
The Lady Falcons leaned heavily on Miss Basketball Daylen Grisham, who led all scorers with 25 points. Peyton Wray turned in a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Tyrani Jones added nine points and Issie Riddle chipped in eight.

Biggersville Rallies Late
Biggersville refused to go quietly.
The Lady Lions mounted a furious defensive run in the fourth quarter, outscoring Ingomar 18-7 in the final frame. Ingomar managed just one made field goal in the fourth quarter as the momentum shifted.
Hailye Gaines paced Biggersville with 15 points as the Lady Lions trimmed the once 18-point deficit to single digits late. However, the early hole proved too deep to fully escape.
Foul Trouble Tests Falcons
Ingomar’s depth was tested down the stretch as three players — Peyton Wray, Bella Phifer and Daylen Grisham — fouled out during the contest. Despite the foul trouble and Biggersville’s late surge, the Lady Falcons held on to secure the seven-point victory.
Falcons Head Back to Jackson
With the win, Ingomar improved to 32-2 on the season and extended its winning streak to 15 games. The Lady Falcons are seeking a fourth consecutive state championship after capturing the last three titles.
Next up is a semifinal showdown at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Monday against Simmons.
Biggersville, whose three-game winning streak was snapped, finishes its season at 20-9.
