Boonville gives Morton the blues in a 66-50 victory
The Booneville Blue Devils gave Morton the Blues all game. Landon Brown was on fire as he lead his team to a 66-50 victory over the Morton Panther.
Booneville grabbed their first lead of the game late in the first quarter. Morton started out fast playing great defense.
Dalton Jackson started this game out on fire from both sides. His defense lead to easy layups on offense. Boonville took off after a close first half.
The second quarter belonged to Booneville. They dominated the entire eight minutes. Morton couldn’t get anything going. At the end of the half the score was 35-16. They held Morton to two points in the second quarter.
The beginning of the second half was much better for Morton. They played great defense and brought the game back within eleven points. The score was 47-36 at the end of the third quarter. The Panthers we ready to make a comeback.
Landon Brown was the man for them when the fourth quarter began. He stole the ball that lead to a quick layup. Their next time down court he drained a contested three. “He started to hit his shots around December,” said Coach Smith. “Once he got settled in he was good. I think he is one of the best shooters in the state of MS. I’ll put him up against anybody.”
Booneville would take off again in the fourth quarter. Their length was too much for Morton.
“In order to win state we have to play a complete game,” said Coach Smith. “I think sometimes we play only half of a game.”
