Truemper and Lady Toppers victorious at Warhawk Invitational

(Results) Blue Mountain women’s cross country captured its second straight meet victory, while Catherine Truemper (FR/New Albany, Miss.) also won her second straight individual title here Friday at the Warhawk 5K Invitational hosted by Calhoun Community College.

Truemper ran the 5K event in a total time of 19:26, with teammate Aubrey Britt (FR/Brookhaven, Miss.) following as the runner-up at 20:07.

Ami Sherif (SR/Memphis, Tenn.) was also solid, putting on a top runner shirt in fourth at 20:31, along with Makayla Blessike (JR/Byhalia, Miss.) and Katie Meeks (FR/Corinth, Miss.) as top runners, with Blessike finishing sixth at 20:41 and Meeks crossing in eighth at 21:09.

Savannah Clayton (SR/Booneville, Miss.) finished 27th at 23:36, Emma Laney (SO/New Albany, Miss.) was 33rd at 24:07 and Morgan Ellis (SO/Strayhorn, Miss.) finished 40th at 25:19.

Blue Mountain ran past the competition with 18 points.

“We had a great day and I’m super proud of my girls,” BMC head coach Phillip Laney said.  “They continue to get stronger every race and I’m excited to see them continue to grow.”

BMC next races at the St. Louis Fall Classic in St. Louis, Mo. October 22.
