Southern Miss Volleyball Hosts Southern Miss Invitational to Open 2026 Home Season
The University of Southern Mississippi volleyball team will host the Southern Miss Invitational from Sept. 10-12 at the Wellness Center in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles enter the tournament with a 4-1 record, looking to build on a strong start to the 2026 season.
Southern Miss opens the event against Houston Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Huskies are 1-5 after dropping their first three matches at the Jambalaya Jam. The Golden Eagles then face Lamar at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Cardinals are 0-6 after losing their first three matches at the ACU Invitational.
On Saturday, Southern Miss faces Southern at noon, a team that has a 1-3 record after losses to Jacksonville and Jacksonville State but a win over Southeastern. The Golden Eagles will close the weekend against Jackson State at 5 p.m. Jackson State is 3-4, with recent wins over Austin Peay and UT Martin.
Southern Miss’s recent performance includes a 3-0 sweep of Central Arkansas and a 3-1 loss to Ole Miss at last weekend’s Rebel Volleyball Classic. The team is led offensively by senior setter Allie Hazelwood, who averages 10.61 assists per set, and outside hitter Sadie McAda, who has averaged 4.71 kills per set this season.
