Mississippi College’s volleyball team swept Augusta 3-0 Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi. The Choctaws won with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-15, improving their record for the season.
Mississippi College finished with 35 kills and a .229 hitting percentage, while holding Augusta to 20 kills and a -.030 percentage. The Choctaws overcame a mid-set deficit in the first set, closing on a 7-1 run to secure the victory. Reese Regner contributed with back-to-back service aces and an assist on Meg Paparella’s kill early in the match.
In the second set, MC fell behind 2-1 but responded with a rally that included kills from Caroline Downey and Samarin Kipple, along with strong serving from Maeve Allen. The set was tied at 21 before the Choctaws finished strong, taking four of the final five points to win 25-22.
The third set saw Mississippi College dominate, winning seven of eight rallies from 11-7 to 18-8. Key contributors included Downey and Paparella, who combined for multiple kills and service aces. The Choctaws maintained their lead comfortably, closing out with a 25-15 victory.
Meg Paparella led the team with 13 kills and 16 points, hitting .500 while adding two aces and five digs. Samarin Kipple recorded a team-high 14 digs, along with five assists and an ace. Reese Regner contributed 13 assists, two aces, and five digs. Mamie Fromdahl added 10 assists and nine digs.
Mississippi College is set to face West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama, on Friday at 6 p.m.
