Jackson State Tennis Players Go Undefeated at Tiger Invite
Jackson, Miss. — Jackson State’s tennis team opened its fall season with a strong showing at the Tiger Invite on Sept. 11-12, with three players going undefeated across singles and doubles matches, according to school officials.
Senior Paula Corbalan led the women’s team, winning her doubles match with Tiara Alvarez and posting singles victories over opponents from Mississippi Christian, Alcorn State, and Dillard. Corbalan’s undefeated weekend included a 7-5, 6-1 win over Gia Pereira of Dillard.
Freshman Larisa Tudora also went undefeated, earning wins over players from Co-Lin, Mississippi Christian, and Alcorn State. Tudora teamed with Polina Georgieva to go 3-0 in doubles action.
On the men’s side, freshman Devesh Sarawanan remained unbeaten in singles play, defeating opponents from Alcorn State, Co-Lin, and Dillard. His last match ended with a 3-6, 6-0, 10-7 victory over Dillard’s Majdi Abdelwaheed.
Overall, Jackson State tallied 32 wins during the two-day event, showcasing depth and talent across the roster. The team will continue its fall schedule in upcoming tournaments, with fans encouraged to follow the Tigers on social media for updates.
