Delta State’s Jordan McKnight Named GSC Special Teams Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Delta State University football player Jordan McKnight has been named the Gulf South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The Shelby, Mississippi, native returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a touchdown, helping lead the Statesmen to a 21-6 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday in Itta Bena.

McKnight also contributed on defense, recording an assisted tackle for loss during the game, according to the conference release.

The Statesmen will take a bye week before returning home to face Shorter University on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Travis Parker Field at Horace McCool Stadium, the university said.

McKnight is a 6-foot-4 junior defensive back for Delta State.
