Auburn Dominates Southern Miss 43-8 in Saturday Night Football

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn’s high-powered offense and opportunistic defense led to a 43-8 victory over Southern Miss on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers (2-0) built an early 17-0 lead and never looked back, dominating in total yards and turnovers.

Auburn scored 17 points in the first quarter, including a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown by Andre Jordan Jr. The Tigers added 10 more points in the second quarter, highlighted by an 8-yard touchdown pass from Christian Byrum to De’Shawn Spencer and a 47-yard field goal by Alex McPherson.

Southern Miss (1-1) managed to score late in the first half, with quarterback Ethan Hampton leading a 14-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a 1-yard touchdown pass to Steven Robinson. Hampton completed 18 of 27 passes for 146 yards and one score. Robinson led the Golden Eagles on the ground with 51 yards on 15 carries.

The Golden Eagles’ defense was led by Laquan Robinson, who recorded 10 solo tackles. Southern Miss forced one fumble, but Auburn’s offense continued to roll, accumulating 610 total yards, including 343 rushing yards. The Tigers scored four more touchdowns in the second half, including a 2-yard run by Omar Mabson II and a safety.
