Ashley Estabrook Named SLIAC Women’s Golf Player of the Week

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — William Woods University senior golfer Ashley Estabrook has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the Week for women’s golf, the league announced Monday.

Estabrook, a Truckee, California, native, earned the recognition for her performance during the week of September 21-27. She helped lead the Owls to a seventh-place finish at the Rhodes College Invitational held at the Links at Audubon course in Tennessee.

Estabrook’s first-round score of 76 tied for the fourth-best round by a SLIAC competitor this season. She finished the tournament with a two-round total of 155, including a second-round score of 79. Her total was the second-best in school history and placed her tied for 18th out of 55 players.

Her efforts contributed to a record-setting team performance. The Owls shot an overall score of 314 in the first round, the lowest in program history. Their two-round total of 641 broke the previous school record by 18 strokes.

Estabrook has finished in the top 20 in 12 of her four years at William Woods and has been the team’s top scorer at eight events. She has earned SLIAC weekly honors four times over the past three seasons, league officials said.

William Woods head coach Benji Williams praised Estabrook’s consistency. “She has worked really hard these last four years,” Williams said. “She’s starting to put some real consistent rounds together. She keeps improving every week.”

The team’s next event will be the SLIAC women’s golf championships, scheduled for October 4-6 at the Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana.
