Two Mississippi State Men’s Tennis Players Ranked in ITA Preseason Top 100
STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its preseason rankings for the 2026-27 season Tuesday, highlighting two Mississippi State players among the top 100 nationally. Bryan Hernandez Cortes was ranked No. 61, and Raphael Vaksmann was No. 95, marking the fourth consecutive year the Bulldogs have had multiple players in the ITA preseason top 100.
Hernandez Cortes, a junior, is ranked 61st in the nation in his first appearance in the preseason rankings. Last season, he broke out, reaching as high as 34th and earning a ranking for 10 weeks. Vaksmann, a sophomore, enters the season ranked 95th, his first top-100 ranking after reaching a career-high 123rd during his freshman year.
Both players are key returners for Mississippi State, which is led by head coach Matt Roberts. The Bulldogs continue to compete as one of the nation’s premier college tennis programs. Under Roberts, Mississippi State has advanced to consecutive NCAA quarterfinals and maintains success in the Southeastern Conference and nationally.
