Three Northwest Mississippi Rodeo Athletes Advance to Finals at College National Finals Rodeo
CASPER, Wyo. — Three athletes from Northwest Mississippi Community College are set to compete Saturday night in Casper at the College National Finals Rodeo for national championships in their respective disciplines, according to event organizers.
Will Collier, Raegan Chance and Dakota Smith will each take their shot inside the Ford Wyoming Center. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m. MDT / 8 p.m. CDT.
Collier, a third-year steer wrestler from Malden, Missouri, is currently in sixth place with a total time of 18.5 seconds on three head. He trails the leader, Andrew Morian of Clarendon College, by 6.3 seconds. Collier will compete first in the Short Go on Saturday night.
Chance, a freshman from Mendenhall, is in fourth place after her runs in barrel racing, with a total time of 41.85 seconds. She trails the leader, Devin Young of Texas A&M University, by 0.65 seconds. Chance and her horse Sky are comfortable in the arena and aim to claim the title.
Smith, a sophomore from Kaufman, Texas, is in seventh place in bull riding with a score of 80.5 after his initial ride. He is among five riders who have completed two bulls, led by Hayden Welsh of Odessa College with 163.50 points. Smith needs to ride his final bull to have a chance at the top spot.
