Lewisburg rallies into state final; East Union stays unbeaten in Monday playoff action

Lewisburg was down two sets and running out of room in its volleyball postseason Monday night. The Patriots won the next three to defeat Germantown 3–2 and reach the Class 7A championship, while Center Hill also advanced to a state final with a four-set victory over Neshoba Central.

Elsewhere in verified Mississippi varsity results from October 12, East Union kept its perfect season intact against Walnut, Kossuth swept Belmont, and Simpson Academy piled up runs in a softball playoff win at Copiah Academy.

Lewisburg survives the long way

Germantown took the opening sets 26–24 and 25–15, leaving Lewisburg needing a complete reversal to stay alive. The Patriots responded 25–19 in the third, squeezed out the fourth 26–24 and finished with a 15–7 deciding-set victory, according to the reported match box score.

Lewisburg improved to 34–8, while Germantown ended at 28–9. The Class 7A bracket now pairs the Patriots with Ocean Springs in the October 15 championship. The comeback turned a two-set deficit into a place in that final.

Center Hill joins the championship field

Center Hill won the first set 25–14 at Neshoba Central, lost the second 25–20, then took the next two 25–22 and 25–17. The 3–1 result moved the Mustangs to 17–11 and left the Rockets at 36–5, according to the final match report.

The Mustangs will meet Hancock in the October 15 Class 6A championship. Center Hill and Lewisburg were both featured in Monday’s Games To Watch preview; both converted their semifinal opportunities into another match.

East Union stays perfect; Kossuth sweeps

East Union improved to 37–0 with a 25–17, 25–13, 25–21 victory over visiting Walnut. The final score report lists Walnut at 31–5 following the playoff defeat.

Kossuth also finished in straight sets, beating Belmont 25–15, 25–10, 25–20. The Aggies’ reported postgame record is 30–4; Belmont finished at 16–19.

Simpson keeps the runs coming

Simpson Academy beat Copiah Academy 16–6 in Gallman, scoring in every inning of the five-inning game. Four runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth completed the Cougars’ offensive output. The box score credits Simpson with 14 hits and Copiah with seven.
