Southern Miss Women’s Golf to Compete in Sun Belt Championships at Lakewood Club
The Southern Miss women’s golf team is set to compete at the Sun Belt Championships this week at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama, according to university athletics. The Golden Eagles enter the tournament as defending champions after reaching the NCAA Tournament last season.
The event will be held on Lakewood’s Dogwood Course, a par-72 layout stretching 6,106 yards. The course is known for its scenic, challenging design, featuring tree-lined fairways, bunkers, and fast greens. Lakewood has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments in the past.
The 12-team field will tee off at 8 a.m. Monday. Fernanda Gorostiaga will be the first Southern Miss player to go, starting on hole 10. Liv Romer, Savannah Van Gaalen, Taylor Trible and Louise Cuyvers will follow in nine-minute intervals, with Cuyvers scheduled to be the last Golden Eagle off at 8:36 a.m.
Southern Miss is paired with Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State for the first round. The tournament will stream live on ESPN+ throughout the week, with live scoring available online. Fans can follow updates on the university’s women’s golf social media accounts and website.
Southern Miss aims to defend its title and advance further in postseason play. The Sun Belt Championships continue through the week at Lakewood Club.
