Southern Miss Pitching Trio Invited to USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Camp

Three pitchers from the University of Southern Mississippi have been invited to join the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, which starts June 24. The sophomore trio of Grayden Harris, Camden Clark and Camden Sunstrom will compete on the Stars team during the camp, according to USA Baseball.

Harris, named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year and a Ferriss Trophy finalist, posted an 8-1 record with a 4.02 ERA. He struck out 107 batters with 19 walks over 87 1/3 innings and ended the season with four straight wins.

Clark, a first-team All-Sun Belt relief pitcher and a member of the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, went 8-0 with five saves. He recorded 81 strikeouts and 12 walks in 55 1/3 innings, with a 2.93 ERA over 23 appearances, including seven starts.

Sunstrom, who was part of the Round Rock Classic all-tournament team, transitioned from the bullpen to the starting rotation midseason. He finished 6-4 with a 3.10 ERA, striking out 80 batters and walking 16 in 78 1/3 innings across nine starts.

The team will play a series of exhibition games June 27-29, beginning in Burlington, North Carolina, against Appalachian League teams. The exhibition slate concludes with a matchup against the Appalachian League Select Team on June 29 at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

Following the exhibitions, the Stars and Stripes teams will compete in the annual Stars vs. Stripes series from June 30 to July 4 at venues in Fayetteville and Cary, North Carolina. The five-game series is part of the training camp, which features 56 top non-draft-eligible college players across the country.

The Collegiate National Team, announced July 5, will compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taiwan from July 11-15. The tournament includes teams from Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea, and features pool play, semifinals, and medal games. The U.S. team will be represented by the selected players, including the three from Southern Miss.

This marks the third time a Southern Miss player has earned a spot on the Collegiate National Team, joining Tony Phillips (1991), Matt Wallner (2018) and Tanner Hall (2022). For more information, fans can visit USABaseball.com or follow @USABaseballCNT on Twitter and @USABaseball on Instagram.
