Southern Miss Baseball Hosts North Alabama in Weekend Series at Pete Taylor Park

The University of Southern Mississippi baseball team hosts North Alabama in a three-game series at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg this weekend. The series begins Friday at 6 p.m., with all three games streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on local radio affiliates of the Southern Miss Sports Network.

The Golden Eagles, 11-2 this season, saw their 11-game winning streak end Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to Nicholls State. The streak was the longest since a school-record 18 consecutive wins last season. North Alabama enters the series with a 7-6 record, having lost an 8-5 midweek game at Ole Miss.

This will be the second meeting between the schools in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles swept the Lions in three games during the 2022 season opener. Southern Miss features offensive leaders Joey Urban, who is batting .417 with four home runs and 16 RBIs, and Seth Smith, hitting .400 with a homer and seven RBIs. Davis Gillespie and Kyle Morrison also contribute with batting averages above .300.

The starting rotation includes right-hander Colby Allen, left-hander Grayden Harris, and right-hander McCarty English. The bullpen has performed well, posting a 9-0 record with a 2.51 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 68 innings.

Following the North Alabama series, Southern Miss will host Ole Miss on March 10 at 6 p.m. in the final game of the homestand.
