Owls Track & Field Sets Four School Records at SLU Strawberry Relays

The University of Southern Mississippi track and field team set four new school records Friday at the Southeastern Louisiana University Strawberry Relays. The women’s team finished eighth, while the men’s squad placed fifth.

Arie’Onna McCollum improved her own school record in the women’s discus with a throw of 37.17 meters. She also finished seventh in the event, seventh in the shot put behind teammate Brooklyn Kelley, and fourth in the javelin with a mark of 32.29 meters.

On the men’s side, sophomore Noel Kellum extended his own discus record to 40.84 meters, finishing ninth. Kellum previously set the record last weekend at the USSU Eagles Invitational, with a mark of 40.01 meters.

Nicholas Martin added a third school record for the men’s team with an 8th-place leap of 12.84 meters in the triple jump, surpassing Sinaj Lynn’s 2025 record of 12.81 meters. Additionally, Mikendall Morris set a new school record in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.51 seconds, breaking Cortland Earl’s 2025 mark of 15.60 seconds.

Southern Miss athletes posted notable performances across multiple events at the Strawberry Relays, highlighted by record-breaking efforts and strong finishes.
