Ole Miss Softball Adds Transfer Pitcher Hailey Lucas for 2027 Season
The University of Mississippi softball program has signed pitcher Hailey Lucas as a transfer for the 2027 season, the team announced Wednesday. Lucas joins the Rebels after one season at Southern Illinois and is eligible for three more seasons of play.
Lucas made an immediate impact in her first collegiate season, leading the Salukis with 116 innings pitched. She posted a 9-7 record with a 2.53 earned run average and struck out 94 batters while walking 28, according to team statistics.
Her standout performance included an eight-inning shutout against Ole Miss, allowing only three hits before conceding her first and only run in the ninth inning. She completed eight games on the season and helped Southern Illinois achieve a team ERA of 2.91 overall.
The Palatine, Illinois native was highly regarded out of high school and adapted quickly to college softball. She ranked 11th in the Missouri Valley Conference in innings pitched, according to the team.
Lucas joins fellow transfers Lexie Hames from Clemson and Brie Howard from Austin Peay, along with 11 incoming freshmen, under head coach Jamie Trachsel. The new roster will compete in the upcoming season with high expectations.
