Ole Miss Men’s Tennis Season Ends at SEC Championship with Loss to South Carolina
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Ole Miss men’s tennis team saw its run at the 2026 SEC Championship end Thursday with a 4-1 loss to South Carolina in the second round.
The Rebels, ranked No. 25, finished the season with a 19-9 record and a 6-8 mark in SEC play. South Carolina, ranked No. 13, improved to 16-7 overall and 8-6 in conference matches.
Ole Miss opened the match with a victory in doubles, as Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin defeated their opponents 6-4, earning their 18th win of the season, tying for the team high. However, the Gamecocks claimed the other two doubles matches, giving them the early advantage.
In singles, Vlado Jankanj provided the Rebels’ sole point, winning in straight sets on court four, 6-4, 6-4. Jankanj extended his singles winning streak to five matches, the longest on the team. South Carolina secured wins on courts one, two, and six to clinch the victory. Pietro Pampanin was trailing in his match but was unable to finish, with the score at 5-7, 4-3. Noah Schlagenhauf also had a competitive match, but play was halted with Schlagenhauf trailing 5-7, 6-0, 1-2.
The Rebels will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA selection show scheduled for Monday, April 27, at 4 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
