Ole Miss Baseball Hosts Southeast Missouri State in Midweek Matchup

Oxford, Miss. — The No. 25 Ole Miss baseball team (8-0) hosts Southeast Missouri State (3-5) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a midweek game, according to university officials.

The Rebels enter the contest after a perfect 5-0 week, including wins over Arkansas State, Jackson State, and a sweep of Missouri State over the weekend. Freshman outfielder Judd Utermark leads the team with a .500 batting average through seven games, while senior outfielder Judd Utermark slugged a team-high 1.105 last week with five home runs and 10 RBIs.

Utermark has hit six home runs in his first eight games, tying him for the top spot in the NCAA and leading the SEC in runs scored. Senior catcher Tristan Bissetta hit two home runs in one inning against Jackson State, marking a rare achievement for the Rebels since 2017. The team has hit at least one home run in each of their first five games, totaling 10 home runs overall.

On the mound, starter Terry Hayes Jr. is set to face Southeast Missouri State’s Caden Kickhaefer. Hayes is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA this season. The Rebels’ pitching staff boasts the third-lowest ERA in the SEC at 2.51, with relievers like JP Robertson, who earned a win last week after striking out eight over 4.1 innings.

SEMO is led by head coach Andy Sawyers, in his 10th season. The Redhawks have a 3-5 record, with their most recent win a 11-3 victory over Saint Louis. Their top pitcher, Mason Pennington, has a 1-0 record with nine strikeouts in two starts. Offensively, Joe Hall leads SEMO with a .414 batting average.

The game will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Jake Hromada and Matt McLaughlin calling the action. Fans can also listen live on the Ole Miss Radio Network with David Kellum and Brad Henderson.
