No. 6 Auburn beats No. 11 Mississippi State 13-2 in series finale
Auburn defeated Mississippi State 13-2 in seven innings Sunday at Dudy Noble Field, securing the series victory. The Tigers, ranked sixth nationally, broke open a three-run game with nine runs across the fifth and sixth innings.
Auburn finished with 14 hits and scored in five innings. Cooper Rembert homered and drove in three runs, while Eric Guevara contributed three hits, three runs, and three RBIs. Ethin Bingaman hit a two-run homer for the Tigers, who improved to 35-15 overall and 16-11 in SEC play.
Mississippi State, ranked 11th, recorded nine hits but stranded nine runners and struggled to convert traffic into offense. Ace Reese led the Bulldogs with a two-run homer and a team-high three hits, while Gehrig Frei also went 3-for-4. MSU dropped to 38-14 overall and 15-12 in the SEC.
Ryan McPherson took the loss for Mississippi State, allowing one earned run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Auburn starter Andrew Petrovic pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and earning his eighth win of the season.
Mississippi State will play No. 9 Texas A&M in a three-game series starting Thursday at 6 p.m., with the game available on SEC Network+.
