Neely Cooper of Blue Mountain Christian earns SSAC Pitcher of the Week honor after no-hitter
Montgomery, Alabama — Neely Cooper of Blue Mountain Christian has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hit game against Thomas University.
Cooper worked five hitless innings, allowing only one walk and striking out five batters. She faced 19 batters and needed just 70 pitches to complete the no-hitter. She also recorded 10 groundouts, preventing Thomas from gaining offensive momentum.
The pitcher demonstrated excellent command and confidence throughout the game, working efficiently and trusting her defense to make plays behind her, according to sources. Cooper’s performance improved her season record to 5-1.
Blue Mountain Christian head coach Matt Brunet praised Cooper’s character and role on the team. “Nobody deserves this honor more than Neely Cooper. She has been the ultimate team player over the past two years. Her teammates love her and trust her in big moments. She loves to compete and thrives when pressure is on,” Brunet said. “We are very proud of her and honored that she pitches for BMCU.”
Her achievement highlights a strong team effort as Blue Mountain Christian continues its conference schedule. Her no-hitter provides a significant boost to the team’s pitching staff as they pursue their season goals.
