Mississippi State’s Ben Davis Named to Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State senior right-hander Ben Davis has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s midseason watch list for the Stopper of the Year award, the organization announced Wednesday.

Davis, a Booneville native, has appeared in 15 relief games this season. He is 0-1 with five saves, a 4.30 earned run average, 35 strikeouts and six walks over 29 1/3 innings.

The senior was also on the preseason watch list for the same award. Past finalists for the Stopper of the Year include Jonathan Holder (2013), Jacob Lindgren (2013) and Landon Sims (2021), according to the NCBWA.

Davis is among 61 pitchers on the midseason list. Finalists will be announced June 3, with the winner revealed during the College World Series on June 12, the organization said.
