Mississippi State Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 3 South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. — Mississippi State women’s basketball team was defeated by No. 3 South Carolina 88-45 Thursday evening at Colonial Life Arena. The Bulldogs dropped to 16-8 overall and 3-7 in SEC play, while the Gamecocks improved to 23-2 and 9-1 in conference play.

South Carolina opened the game strong, leading 21-11 after the first quarter and extending the lead throughout the game. The Gamecocks shot 54.8% from the field, compared to Mississippi State’s 27.6%. South Carolina also made 42.9% of its three-point attempts and 93.3% of free throws, dominating both ends.

Madison Francis led the Bulldogs with 12 points, marking her 17th game in double figures this season. Kharyssa Richardson scored 12 points and has now scored in double digits in three consecutive games. Destiney McPhaul added five points, and Jaylah Lampley contributed four points in the loss.

Mississippi State will return home to face Georgia on Feb. 12 at Humphrey Coliseum. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
