Mississippi State to Host 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend

Mississippi State University will host the 2027 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend, the school announced Thursday. This marks the third consecutive year Starkville has hosted the regional tournament.

The event features the top 14 schools from across the country. The regional winner advances to the ITA National Indoor Championships, scheduled for February at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, South Carolina.

Joining Mississippi State in the regional are North Carolina, USC, and Tennessee. North Carolina will make its first trip to Starkville in program history for the fourth meeting between the Bulldogs and Tar Heels. USC will also compete in Starkville for the first time, with the fifth-ever matchup between the programs. Mississippi State will face SEC rival Tennessee on Saturday, marking the 64th meeting between the two teams.

Mississippi State will participate in its 16th ITA Kickoff Weekend since the event’s inception in 2009. Starkville has hosted the event eight times, including the past three seasons. In 2026, the Bulldogs defeated Santa Clara and Auburn to qualify for the national indoor championships in Dallas, Texas. They finished 2-1 at that event, beating No. 23 Florida and No. 3 Stanford before falling to No. 1 Virginia.
