Mississippi State Softball’s Goold, Five Others Earn Academic All-District Honors

Five Mississippi State softball players were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team this week, according to team officials. Peja Goold, a three-time all-district honoree, will advance to the national ballot for the All-American award.

Goold, who graduated this spring with a marketing degree, is a finalist for the second consecutive year. She will begin her professional career with the OKC Spark this summer. Goold previously earned CSC honors while at Chattanooga and has received All-District recognition every year of her college career, excluding her freshman year.

Other Bulldogs honored include Morgan Bernardini, Alyssa Faircloth, Abby Grace Richardson, and Morgan Stiles. Bernardini, a human development and family science major, is a two-time all-district selection and led MSU in batting during the NCAA Tournament. Faircloth, majoring in kinesiology, earned her first CSC honor at MSU after transferring from Troy. She was named a Second Team All-American by D1Softball and SEC Newcomer of the Year.

Richardson, who majors in interdisciplinary studies and has been accepted into nursing school, earned First Team CSC All-American honors as a sophomore and was an SEC First-Year Honor Roll member last season. Stiles, a biological sciences major, was named Third Team All-South Region by the NFCA and is among the team leaders in multiple offensive categories. She broke the MSU record for hits in the NCAA Tournament last weekend.

With Goold advancing to the national ballot, Mississippi State has the opportunity to claim its ninth Academic All-American in program history. The Bulldogs will make their first appearance in the Women’s College World Series on May 28 against Texas Tech, broadcast on ESPN at 11 a.m. CT.
