Mississippi State Hosts Jackson State in Homestand Opener at Dudy Noble Field

Mississippi State, ranked sixth nationally, begins a five-game homestand at Dudy Noble Field with a matchup against Jackson State on Tuesday at 4 p.m., according to university officials. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.

The Bulldogs have won 14 consecutive home games, dating back to April 2025, including a perfect 12-0 record this spring. MSU is coming off a series loss at No. 4 Arkansas and stands at 16-4 overall.

Freshman left-hander Maddox Miller will make his first career start for MSU. He has appeared six times out of the bullpen, with a 1-2 record and an 8.10 ERA, striking out 14 in 6 2/3 innings. Jackson State has not announced its starting pitcher for Tuesday.

MSU has a dominant record against Jackson State, winning seven straight and holding a 57-8 all-time series advantage. The Bulldogs are 38-2 against the Tigers at home, including a 16-3 victory last year, in which Reed Stallman went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBIs.

Mississippi State features a potent offense, batting .338 with 30 home runs and averaging 9.9 runs per game. They also rank seventh nationally with 52 doubles and have stolen 32 bases in 41 attempts. Bryce Chance leads the team with a .436 batting average and seven steals, while Ace Reese has 30 hits, 11 doubles, six homers and 31 RBIs. The Bulldogs’ pitching staff has a 3.79 ERA with 232 strikeouts in 171 innings, holding opponents to a .222 batting average.

Jackson State enters the game with a 10-11 record after losing a series at Texas Southern. The Tigers are batting .306 with 14 home runs and 7.6 runs per game. Their pitching staff has an 8.43 ERA, with opponents batting .274 against them. Tyree Reed is the team’s leading hitter at .400, and Robert Tate Jr. has four home runs and 33 hits.
