Mississippi State Hires Lucy Ream as Soccer Operations Director

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State head soccer coach Kevin O’Brien has completed his first coaching staff by hiring Lucy Ream as the program’s director of soccer operations, the school announced Tuesday.

Ream joins the Bulldogs after spending one year as the director of operations at Lipscomb, where she worked under O’Brien. She previously played for Lipscomb and Eastern Kentucky, earning All-ASUN honors twice as a player at Lipscomb.

“We’re excited to welcome Lucy Ream as our new director of operations,” O’Brien said. “I had the privilege of coaching Lucy earlier in her career and witnessed her incredible work ethic, professionalism and commitment to excellence. She brings a strong administrative skillset that will elevate our entire program and allow our staff to focus on training and player development.”

Ream, a Lipscomb graduate, was a two-year letterwinner for the Bisons after transferring from Eastern Kentucky. She helped Lipscomb win the 2023 ASUN Regular Season Championship, going 10-0-1 in conference play, with all wins being shutouts. The team finished with a 14-5-1 record, setting a school record for wins at the time.

As a senior, Ream started all 21 games, earning third-team All-ASUN honors and an ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award. She played more than 1,660 minutes that season as Lipscomb secured the ASUN Tournament title and matched its program record with 14 wins.

Ream also played two seasons at Eastern Kentucky, where she started 18 of 19 appearances, scored two goals and had four assists. She graduated from Lipscomb in 2025 with a degree in middle grade education.
