Mississippi State Completes Historic Sweep of LSU

Mississippi State completed a series sweep of LSU on Sunday at Dudy Noble Field, ending a 41-year drought. The No. 15 Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 13-8, marking their first sweep of LSU since 1985, according to school officials.

Mississippi State (34-10, 13-8 SEC) fell behind early but rallied to take control late in the game. Trailing 3-0 after the first inning, the Bulldogs tied the game in the second on a three-run homer by Ace Reese. The game saw multiple lead changes before Mississippi State scored eight unanswered runs in the final innings to secure the victory.

Reese finished with four RBIs, including a home run, and went 2-for-5 at the plate. Noah Sullivan added three hits and two RBIs. The Bulldogs capitalized on three LSU errors and recorded 12 hits overall, overcoming a Tigers squad that hit three home runs in the game.

LSU (24-21, 6-15 SEC) opened the scoring with a three-run homer from Cade Arrambide. Mason Braun later hit a two-run triple in the sixth, but Mississippi State responded with a four-run bottom half to take the lead for good. The Bulldogs added runs in the eighth and ninth innings to seal the win.

Peyton Fowler earned the win for Mississippi State, pitching the final inning after relievers Ben Davis and Maddox Webb held LSU scoreless in the last three frames. LSU’s Deven Sheerin took the loss after surrendering three runs in the sixth inning.
