Millsaps Duo Gonzalez, Pierce Named SAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Athletes of the Week
SANSON, Ga. — Millsaps College’s men’s tennis team saw its doubles pairing of sophomore Sebastian Gonzalez and freshman Brennan Pierce earn the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men’s Tennis Doubles Athletes of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday.
The duo played a key role in Millsaps’ wins over Belhaven and Mississippi University for Women over the weekend. On Saturday, Gonzalez and Pierce defeated the Blazers 6-4, contributing to a 5-2 team victory. The following day, they secured a 6-1 win that helped the Majors claim the doubles point and ultimately a 4-3 victory overall.
The Millsaps men’s and women’s tennis programs are set to host the University of the Ozarks in upcoming matches. The men’s team will also face Jones College on Saturday. Matches are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Coach Montgomery Courts.
