Madison Sawyer earns second MACCC Pitcher of the Week award

Jackson, Mississippi — Madison Sawyer, a freshman pitcher for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College softball team, has been named the MACCC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday.

Sawyer has posted an impressive 13-1 record with 11 complete games, three shutouts, and a 1.95 ERA. Her recent three-start stretch includes a two-hit shutout against No. 1 Pearl River — the first time the Wildcats have been shut out all year — a two-hitter at Southwest, and a no-hitter against Holmes on Saturday.

Last week, Sawyer went 2-0 with 16 strikeouts, five hits allowed, and two earned runs over 13 innings. She plays a key role for the Bobcats, who will host Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

She is listed as a 5-foot-10 right-handed pitcher and infielder from Satsuma, Alabama.
