Louisiana Christian beats Blue Mountain Christian in season opener
Blue Mountain Christian University opened its 2026 women’s soccer season Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Louisiana Christian University. The Wildcats scored early and controlled much of the match.
Louisiana Christian took the lead in the fifth minute when Katalina Medina scored off an assist from Isabella Urbaneto. The Wildcats added a second goal just before halftime, with Giselle Laing netting a shot off an assist from Izzy Childs in the 45th minute.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Medina scored her second goal, extending Louisiana Christian’s lead to 3-0. Blue Mountain Christian responded in the 66th minute when Nayelli Aguayo scored off an assist from Maria Eduarda Koespel, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
The Toppers managed six shots in the second half but could not score again. Louisiana Christian finished with a 24-10 advantage in total shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. BMCU’s defense recorded nine saves, while the Wildcats made five.
Blue Mountain Christian will host Talladega College next Saturday for its home opener.
