Kim Mulkey to Headline Delta State’s Night of Champions
Delta State University Athletics is preparing for its third annual Night of Champions on Friday, August 14, at The Gin in the 8 West District. Presented by lead sponsor Cannon Motors of Mississippi, the event will honor college basketball legend Kim Mulkey, who is set to speak at the fundraiser.
DSU Athletic Director Mike Kinnison described the event as a highlight for the university and community. “We are honored to have Kim Mulkey as our 2026 featured speaker and look forward to hearing her experiences as a National Championship player and coach,” he said.
Mulkey, a member of the 1984 Olympic gold medal-winning team, is the only person in college basketball history to win national championships as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. She played at Louisiana Tech and later spent 15 seasons on its coaching staff, leading the program to one national title and three Final Four appearances.
She built Baylor into a powerhouse, winning NCAA titles in 2005, 2012 and 2019, including a perfect 40-0 season in 2012. Since becoming LSU’s head coach in 2021, Mulkey has won her fourth NCAA Division I national championship and earned recognition as one of the top active coaches in women’s college basketball.
There are still tickets available, including general admission, couples, and reserved tables of eight. Limited sponsorship opportunities also remain, offering recognition, tickets, VIP access and other benefits. Interested parties are encouraged to reserve soon.
