Jones College Golf Finishes Fifth at Gulf South District Tournament
Jones College finished fifth in the NJCAA Division II Gulf South District Tournament held at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon. The Bobcats posted a team score of 907, or 43 over par, over the three-day event from Monday through Wednesday.
Mississippi Gulf Coast claimed the team title with an 863, finishing one under par. Meridian and Hinds tied for second at 891, while Northeast finished sixth at 900. East Central placed seventh with a score of 911.
Individually, Julius Hautmann led Jones with a 75-77-71—223, tying for 10th place. Josh Tombs shot a 74-74-76—224, tying for 12th. Evan Bass posted a 72-77-80—229, and Bastian Graf scored a 77-78-78—233. Drew Groscost finished with a 75-79-81—235.
The tournament medalist was a five-way tie among Max Seidemann of Copiah-Lincoln, Logan Jensen and Jayden Owensby of Mississippi Gulf Coast, Olof Behle of Northeast, and Stephen Faucheaux of Hinds. They all shot 217, or 1 over par, and earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.
Mississippi Gulf Coast and Hinds earned berths into the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Plymouth, Indiana, May 19-22, with Hinds securing its spot via tiebreaker over Meridian. Meridian still has a chance at an at-large bid.
