Jackson State Men’s Golf Wraps Up Regular Season in Nashville

Jackson State wrapped up its regular-season golf schedule Monday at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate in Nashville. The tournament, hosted by Tennessee State, took place at Hermitage Golf Club and included teams from Tennessee State, Florida A&M, Alabama A&M, UMass Amherst, Prairie View A&M, and others.

The event began at 8 a.m. Monday, with Jackson State paired with UMass Amherst and Prairie View A&M. The Hermitage Golf Club offers two courses, including The President’s Reserve, which was designed by Denis Griffiths and stretches up to 7,200 yards. The course weaves through Tennessee wetlands and along the Cumberland River, providing a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.

The President’s Reserve has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the top 10 courses in Tennessee. The club’s General’s Retreat, built in 1986 and designed by Gary Roger Baird, hosted the LPGA Sara Lee Classic from 1988 to 1999. It has been named Nashville’s “Best Golf Course” and features scenic views along the Cumberland River with multiple tee options.

Jackson State’s participation in the tournament marks the final event before next week’s SWAC Championships. The team is using the tournament to prepare for the postseason, which will determine the conference champion.
