Jackson State Finishes Regular Season at TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate
Old Hickory, Tenn. — Jackson State concluded its men’s golf regular season Tuesday at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee State at Hermitage Golf Club. The Tigers finished 11th in the team standings with a total score of 934.
In the final round, three Jackson State players shot in the 70s. Junior Trace Carpenter led the team with a 4-over 75, followed by freshman JD Berndt with the same score. Sophomore Kaden Tibbetts carded a 76. Carpenter and Berndt posted the lowest rounds for Jackson State in the tournament.
Jackson State’s overall score was 316-311-307, finishing behind other teams such as Florida A&M, Prairie View A&M, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The team’s top individual scorer was Edward Wallace, who finished with a total of 242.
Individually, Robert Woods of Alabama State and Quincy Robert of Tennessee State tied for first place with scores of 208, five under par. The tournament featured 11 teams competing over two days at the par-71, 6,956-yard course.
Jackson State now shifts focus to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, beginning April 13, according to the university.
