Hinds Softball Completes Sweep of Northwest Mississippi with Run-Rule Win and Shutout
RAYMOND, Miss. — The Hinds Community College softball team swept Northwest Mississippi Community College in a doubleheader Saturday. The Lady Eagles won the first game 11-3 via run rule in five innings and secured a 3-0 shutout in the second game, according to school officials.
In the opening game, Hinds scored four runs in the first inning and added seven in the fifth to close out the game early. Emma Hudson led the offense, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Lakethia Sampson also went 3-for-3, scored twice and drove in a run. Abigail McLean was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Jalia McDaniel scored twice and added a hit, while Mackenzie Smith contributed with a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Addison Galloway added a hit and a run.
Jazmin Robertson earned the win on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. Claire Mellard finished the game in relief to secure the victory.
In the second game, Abigail McLean pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and four walks over seven innings. Emma Hudson continued her strong performance, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. McLean also contributed with a hit and an RBI, and Lakethia Sampson added a hit and a run scored. Shailey Peterson also scored for the Lady Eagles.
