Hinds Community College Promotes Nevol to Assistant Athletic Director
UTICA, Miss. — Hinds Community College has promoted Jonathan Nevol from head men’s basketball coach to assistant athletic director, the college announced Tuesday.
In his new role, Nevol will assist with athletic operations on the Utica Campus. He will help oversee event management, game-day operations, and work alongside department leadership on compliance efforts, according to a news release.
Nevol will continue coaching the men’s basketball team. Since joining Hinds, he has focused on student-athlete development, competitive success, and building a strong team culture. His leadership has made a significant impact on the department, the college said.
“Jon has done a tremendous job with our men’s basketball program, and this is a well-deserved opportunity for him,” athletic director Mike Werremeyer said. “I’m excited to see him continue that momentum on the court while also bringing his leadership and perspective into a larger administrative role within the athletic department to better prepare him for his future.”
Nevol expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “Hinds has been a place where I’ve grown not only as a coach but as a person,” he said. “The relationships I’ve built with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and the community have made my time here truly special. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as assistant athletic director and help lead Hinds Athletics into the future.”
He added, “Thank you to everyone who has poured into me throughout this journey and entrusted me with this opportunity. I’m proud to call Hinds home and excited for what’s ahead.”
Hinds Athletics looks forward to Nevol’s continued contributions in both roles. The department also encourages fans to follow @HindsAthletics on Twitter and Instagram and to like their Facebook page for updates.
