Florida A&M Beats Mississippi Valley State 14-4 in Series Opener
Florida A&M defeated Mississippi Valley State 14-4 in seven innings Tuesday at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee, Florida. The Rattlers improved to 19-17 overall and 14-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, while the Devils fell to 11-24 and 7-10 in conference play, according to the schools’ stats.
Mississippi Valley State’s Gabe Huelsing and Jaxon Haynes each hit triples during the game. Huelsing also drove in a run and scored twice, while Haynes came home shortly after his triple, per the school’s report. Tanner Aoki was the only Devil with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
On the mound, Chris Brown pitched one scoreless inning. Tom Early and Kendall Brookins each drove in runs, the school said. The final game of the series is scheduled for noon Central time, as Mississippi Valley State attempts to salvage a win on the road.
The series history favors Florida A&M, which leads 22-2 since 2011, according to records. The Rattlers have won the last two meetings. The schools’ last game was on April 13, 2025, when the Devils won 10-6.
