Fischer Shoots Bogey-Free 66, Leads Ole Miss to Fourth at Mason Rudolph Golf
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Tom Fischer of Ole Miss delivered a bogey-free round Sunday, carding a 5-under 66 at the Mason Rudolph Championship. His effort helped him finish second individually, two strokes behind Auburn’s Jackson Koivun.
The No. 14/13 Rebels posted their best team score of the weekend with a 278, 6-under par, to finish in fourth place overall at 1-over for the tournament. Fischer’s 66 was his season-best round and his second bogey-free performance in three rounds at the event, according to team sources.
Fischer was aggressive early, making three-under on his first nine holes, which included two chip-in birdies. He reached 9-under for the tournament as he and Koivun were tied heading to the final holes. On the 18th, Fischer hit a hybrid shot that set up a 15-foot eagle putt. He settled for a birdie on the last hole, finishing the weekend at 10-under.
Koivun, who started his final round an hour after Fischer, birdied three of his last five holes. He finished at 12-under to claim medalist honors. Cohen Trolio also contributed with a 3-under 68 in the final round. Cameron Tankersley shot even par and finished tied for 18th.
This marks the seventh top-five finish for Ole Miss this season. Fischer has now posted six consecutive rounds in red figures at the Mason Rudolph Championship, dating back to last year. The Rebels will close their regular season April 13-14 at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, hosted by Mississippi State, at Mossy Oak Golf Club.
