FAMU Softball Dominates Mississippi Valley State on Senior Day
Florida A&M’s softball team routed Mississippi Valley State 16-1 in five innings Saturday at MVSU Softball Field in Itta Bena, Mississippi. The Rattlers improved to 26-17 overall and 17-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Delta Devils fell to 1-35 and 0-21 in conference play, ending their home schedule with a loss.
The Rattlers, who lead the all-time series 25-5, extended their winning streak to 19 games. Their last loss to Mississippi Valley State came on April 23, 2022, with a 10-6 score.
Florida A&M’s offense was led by several key performances. Taniya Partee went 3-for-3 and scored the team’s only run. Devyn Dotson was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2. Kelsey Kaluna-Thomas contributed an RBI-single that kept the Rattlers from being shut out. Michelle Diaz and Ashtyn Clark also recorded hits in the game.
Mississippi Valley State’s lone run came in the fifth inning. The team will now hit the road for its final series of the season, starting at 6 p.m. Friday against Alabama State in Montgomery. The Delta Devils will look to close out the season with a win on the road.
Florida A&M’s offense was prolific early, scoring 15 runs in the first four innings. The game featured multiple RBI hits, including homers and doubles, contributing to the decisive victory.
