Mississippi Valley State Women Announce 2026-27 Basketball Schedule

Mississippi Valley State University’s women’s basketball team has announced its 2026-27 schedule. The Delta-based program will host four nonconference home games and travel to Ole Miss in December, as head coach Jason James enters his second full season leading the team.

The Delta Devils will welcome Tougaloo College, West Georgia, Mercer, and South Carolina State to Itta Bena before starting Southwestern Athletic Conference play in January. The nonconference home schedule begins Thursday, Oct. 29, when Tougaloo visits for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. This game marks the first home appearance for MVSU before a stretch of five consecutive road games in November.

MVSU returns to Itta Bena on Nov. 20 to host West Georgia at 11 a.m. The game is the team’s only home contest in November, providing a break from the road before finishing the month with two away games. The home schedule resumes in December with a game against Mercer on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. The following week, South Carolina State visits Itta Bena on Dec. 11 for a 6 p.m. game. This marks the conclusion of MVSU’s nonconference home schedule, with three remaining road games before league play begins.

One of the season’s highlights is the road trip to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Dec. 27. Tipoff time has not been announced. This in-state matchup closes the nonconference schedule and serves as the final game before SWAC play begins.

Conference action kicks off Saturday, Jan. 2, at Alabama State in Montgomery, with a 1 p.m. tipoff. Following a game at Alabama A&M, MVSU will host Texas Southern on Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in its SWAC home opener. Fans can follow MVSU sports coverage on Facebook, Twitter/X, and Instagram.
