Delta State’s Westbrook Named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week
Birmingham, Ala. — Je’Marion Westbrook of Delta State University received the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award, honoring his performance Friday night against Mississippi College.
Westbrook scored 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including five three-pointers, and added 10 rebounds. It was his second double-double of the season and helped Delta State secure an 85-77 victory.
The senior forward, who stands 6’7″, returned to action after missing several games in late January. Since then, he has averaged 20.7 points over seven games, including a 30-point effort against West Alabama in the quarterfinals.
Delta State’s season ended last night in the Gulf South Conference quarterfinals with an 11-17 record. Westbrook’s standout play was a highlight of the team’s postseason run, according to conference officials.
