Cleveland, Miss. — The Delta State University baseball team (26-16, 19-11 Gulf South Conference) will play its final non-conference midweek game of the season Tuesday in Searcy, Arkansas.
The Statesmen will face Harding University (27-17, 20-10 Great American Conference) at 5 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field. The game will be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Network, with Michael Gross providing play-by-play. The pregame show begins around 4:30 p.m.
Delta State has won seven of its last eight games and secured a spot in the GSC tournament. The team aims to carry its momentum into a key weekend series in conference play. Last season, the Statesmen defeated Harding 7-5, with senior Jacob Hill contributing a hit, RBI, and stolen base in that game.
Offensively, senior Levi Lang has been a standout, hitting .357 with eight home runs and 40 RBIs. Austin Batts is currently batting .324 with 17 RBIs and seven extra-base hits. Meanwhile, junior Austin Batts and others have helped the team stay on a winning streak heading into the postseason.
Harding, meanwhile, has won eight consecutive games. Cooper Newsom leads the Bison with 60 RBIs, 24 extra-base hits, and eight home runs. Easton Jones is batting .352 with 19 doubles, three home runs, and a perfect 20-for-20 on stolen bases. Both teams look to finish the season strong ahead of the conference tournament.
