Blue Mountain finishes fourth at SSAC Men’s Golf Championship

The Blue Mountain College men’s golf team finished fourth out of 10 teams at the SSAC Men’s Golf Championship held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Greenville, Alabama. The three-round event took place on a par-72 course spanning 6,864 yards and tested some of the NAIA’s top competitors, according to the school.

The Toppers started strong and remained competitive throughout the tournament. Cobey Riddle and Alex Nordstrom each finished tied for fifth place with a three-round total of 219. Riddle shot rounds of 71, 71 and 77, while Nordstrom posted scores of 70, 76 and 73. Both navigated a deep field to earn top-five finishes, the school said.

Simon Meiby and Damil Ataullah each tied for 26th with totals of 230. Meiby recorded rounds of 81, 75 and 74, and Ataullah opened with a 71 before finishing with rounds of 81 and 78. Jeremiah Bell placed 44th overall with a total of 249 after rounds of 82, 80 and 87. Shameer Jayram contributed in rounds two and three, posting scores of 78 and 74 after entering the lineup following the first round. Acen Lambert played in the first round, recording an 82 before being replaced.

Head coach Kevin Barefield was named SSAC Co-Coach of the Year, the school said. The team’s fourth-place finish demonstrated its ability to compete among the conference’s best and provided valuable experience ahead of the NAIA National Championship, organizers noted.
