Belhaven Women’s Basketball Falls to Piedmont 75-46
Demorest, Georgia — Belhaven University’s women’s basketball team fell 75-46 to Piedmont at Cave Arena on Saturday. The Blazers, now 15-6 overall and 8-5 in the Collegiate Conference of the South, struggled offensively, shooting just 18.6% from the field and 1-for-19 from three-point range.
Belhaven outrebounded Piedmont 51-38 and received 26 points from its bench. Amanda Walker recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Blazers.
The game opened with energy from Belhaven, which led 7-2 early in the first quarter. However, Piedmont responded with a late run, ending the period ahead 23-12. Walker provided a spark off the bench with active play around the rim, but the Blazers trailed at halftime 39-22.
In the second half, Belhaven attempted to close the gap. Walker continued to attack the glass, and Katelyn Coleman and Kamren Edwards made free throws to slow Piedmont’s momentum. Despite a push from Kyla Farmer and others, the Blazers entered the fourth quarter down 62-34.
The team fought to the final whistle. RaMya King scored on a drive, and Allison Liddell added a three-point play. Zoey Cade made a late three-pointer, but the deficit proved too large. Belhaven returns home Tuesday to face Huntingdon at 4 p.m.
