Belhaven Clinches No. 1 Seed at CCS Softball Tournament

The CCS softball championship tournament is set to begin Wednesday at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama, with the top-seeded Belhaven Blazers aiming for their third straight title. The tournament runs through Saturday, May 2, with games streamed on the CCS Network and tickets available online.

Belhaven earned the No. 1 seed after finishing with a conference-best 15-1 record in CCS play, and a 32-8 overall mark. The Blazers lead the conference with a .344 team batting average and 283 runs scored. Their pitching staff posted a 2.41 ERA, ranking near the top of the league. Belhaven will face the winner of the game between Maryville and LaGrange in its opening matchup Thursday at 10 a.m.

The tournament features six teams, seeded as follows: Belhaven, Huntingdon, Piedmont, Maryville, LaGrange, and Covenant. Belhaven has made three consecutive championship game appearances and secured two titles in the past three seasons, including last year.

Huntingdon enters as the second seed with a 13-3 conference record and boasts the conference’s lowest ERA at 2.14, led by Allie Roberts, who has 111 strikeouts. Piedmont features one of the top hitters in the tournament, Anslee Sanchregraw, who leads the CCS in batting average (.491), slugging, on-base percentage, and OPS. Maryville and LaGrange round out the field, each with solid offensive and pitching depth.
